Introduction to Rouge River Estates Community
Rouge River Estates Community is a small neighbourhood in the southeast of Markham favoured mainly by families. It is bordered by the Rouge River and is a safe neighbourhood to live in.
Location

Rouge River Estates community is located east of Markham Road, west of the Rouge River, and north of 14th Avenue. The Rouge River tributaries flow down from slightly higher ground near Bloomington and Lincoln down to Lake Ontario. The river becomes wider in this neighbourhood and some of the homes have backyards that have a view of the river and the ravine it has carved into the landscape over the years. The area is very near to two lovely golf courses Markham Green Golf Course and Remington Parkview Golf and Country Club, which are excellent courses for golfers in the area.
The Homes in Rouge River Estates Community

The neighbourhood is comprised of link-detached and fully detached houses, which are typically 3-4 bedrooms. The link detached homes share a foundation and mostly have single-car garages. The detached homes mostly have double-car garages. Further towards the river, are mansions that have more square footage and occupy larger lots.
Transport & Commuting

The area affords direct access to Highway 407 and is well-serviced by York Region Transit and the TTC. The nearest GO station for commuting downtown is Markham GO station. Markham GO is approximately a 9-minute bus ride, a 12-minute cycle or a 6-minute drive. Therefore, getting around from Rouge River Estates is relatively easy.
Shopping in Rouge River Estates Community

The area is near the Armadale Square shopping plaza on Markham Road, just south of 14th Avenue. The plaza boasts lots of dining and take-out options for eating, supermarkets and big-box stores such as Home Depot, Canadian Tyre and Costco. Further afield to the North, a 5-minute drive will bring you to Markham Village Main Street. This shopping area offers shopping in small, individually owned stores and restaurants.
Schools

The neighbourhood has a catholic elementary school – Sir Richard W Scott School. However, children living here do not need to go far for other great schools to choose from. Parks and Recreation

The nearest community centre is the Rouge River Community Centre, a hall that hosts classes and private events. It has a large deck overlooking the beautiful grounds. The Aaniin Centre is a few minute’s drive away for sports and leisure activities and has an indoor pool, playground, multisensory room, youth room, fitness centre, and a walking/running track.
Next to Sir Richard W Scott Catholic School, there is a parkland area, which has a baseball diamond and a grassy space for relaxing and picnicking.
Roxbury Park is at the southern end of the neighbourhood and has a children’s playground and lots of trees which are stunning in the Fall.
Further to the East, Fairway Vista Park is part of the Rouge Valley trail and is great for walking and cycling through nature.
Conclusion

This neighbourhood has some lovely homes, great links to public transport and is close to major highways. Therefore, it is very accessible. There are some amazing trails and parks. Additionally, good schools are close by. The crime rate is low, making the area a very safe place to live.
