BEE the Movement – Dec 17th 6.30pm

TRCA is excited to work with Alveole to bring you a free workshop all about urban agriculture!
Chicken keeping, rooftop gardens, vertical farming, and creating community – this workshop takes participants a few steps out of the beehive and into the broader and inspiring movement of urban agriculture. Whether it be the massive success of WW2 homefront victory gardens on front lawns, the reappropriation of downtown vacant lots to host community gardens or the conversion of urban rooftops into greenhouses that produce tens of thousands of pounds of food a year, the urban agriculture movement holds a contagious passion for creativity when it comes to (re)imagining our cities.
Follow along as an Alvéole beekeeper walks you through pivotal moments of the North American movement for greener cities and a closer relationship to food, touching on exciting contemporary innovations and inspiring local initiatives. Participants are sure to leave with a fresh lens when it comes to urban space (and maybe even the desire to grow a tomato!)
