Markham Jazz Festival - Unionville - Aug 18th - 20th

Local and international artists will put on over 30 open-air performances Aug. 18- 20 along Main Street Unionville at three main outdoor venues, with the fest curated by artistic director Ernesto Cervini, a noted Toronto jazz drummer, composer and publicist.

Stouffville Summer Street Festival - Main Street Stouffville

The Stouffville Summer Street Festival will be held on August 19th from 2 to 8 p.m. on Main Street in the Village of Stouffville. Main Street in the Village will be closed to traffic, providing ample room for street vendors, artisans, social groups, carnival type games and live music. There is no admission charge to attend this event and activities for all age groups will be provided. This fully accessible event is for all ages.

Movies in the Park - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
Memorial Park - Stouffville - Aug 18th - 8pm

This summer, the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville will once again be holding our annual Movies in the Park! Join us at Memorial Park every third and fourth Friday in August for family-favorite films under the stars! Each movie will begin at sundown, around 8:30 p.m., and finish around 11:00 p.m. Food vendors will be on-site, selling a variety of snacks for you to indulge in as you enjoy a magical cinematic experience.
This is a free event that is open to all Whitchurch-Stouffville residents and non-residents to attend.

Scarborough Afro-Carib Fest - Thomson Memorial Park
Aug 19th - 20th

Afro-Carib Fest is an award-winning 2-day outdoor festival that celebrates diversity by showcasing the arts, culture and heritage of the Afro-Caribbean diaspora to over 40, 000 attendees. Audiences will be engaged through 30 live performances, over 80 vendors, a cultural fashion show, kid’s zone, dance competitions, and much more.

Afro-Carib Fest invites people of all backgrounds to share in cultural presentations, artistic performances, learning and networking opportunities. The event will take place on August 19th and August 20th, 2023 from 12pm to 9pm at Thomson Memorial Park, Scarborough.

Voyage to the Deep - Ontario Science Centre - until Sept 4th

Dive in to explore an incredible world beneath the waves

Voyage to the Deep: Underwater Adventures brings to life the mythical world of Captain Nemo and the real wonders of ocean exploration. Based on Jules Verne’s classic novel, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, this interactive exhibition takes you on an exciting ocean adventure—perfect for families and kids ages 2-10.

Search for sea creatures, explore the lost world of Atlantis, examine Captain Nemo’s Cabinet of Curiosities full of amazing marine specimens and more. The Voyage to the Deep exhibition was created and developed by the Australian National Maritime Museum, an Australian Government entity. The exhibition tour is managed by Flying Fish Exhibits.

CNE - Canadian National Exhibition - Exhibition Place Toronto - Aug 18th - Sept 4th

The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) is Canada’s largest annual community event. Taking place over the 18 days leading up to and including Labour Day, the CNE offers a wide variety of entertainment and events including Bandshell concerts, celebrity chef demonstrations, an aerial acrobatics and ice skating show, a dog show, a working farm, parades and a three-day Air Show, all of which are FREE with admission to the CNE. Midway rides and games, wacky fair food as well as international food and shopping are also popular highlights of this major Toronto event. Over the course of its 18 day run, the CNE attracts more than 1.5 million people each year.
