As an added bonus, The York Region Arts Council will be hosting a free public Art Workshop at the Markham Museum this Thursday night.
Guest artist Sara Mozafari will be leading the session.
The Arts Workshop is part of YRAC’s new Local Pairings initiative – a program that engages artists, venues, and event organizers to partner with York Region Arts Council in activating arts across York Region.
The goal of Local Pairings is to provide artists and organizers with mutually beneficial opportunities to come together, share resources, and ultimately share space for cultural expression.

Thursday Nights at the Bandstand presents Magic of Motown – Aug 25th – 7.30pm

Our popular, FREE music series “Thursday Nights at the Bandstand” runs through the summer starting in June at the Unionville’s Millennium Bandstand at the corner of Main Street and Fred Varley Drive.
Organized by community-based Unionville Presents, the summer series has been running since 2009 and attracts talented Canadian, International and local performers to the outdoor Unionville main street Millennium Bandstand stage for all to enjoy free of charge.

Park-Up FEST – Thomson Memorial Park – Aug 27th

“Behind The Art ” (BTA) Park-Up FEST is a community-oriented arts festival that celebrates diversity, showcases artists whilst educating the community about various artists forms and creating mental health awareness. The event is led by a not-for-profit Collective BTA and our aim is to create a mental health awareness art series that strengthens community wellness through public art while highlighting Scarborough/Toronto artists. We welcome people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. The festival is taking place on Saturday, August 27th, 2022 at Thomson Memorial Park in Scarborough. Rain date is August 28th, 2022.
Experience live music performances, arts installation, interactive art activities and arts programming that is compact with culture.
BTA is also hosting 2 youth workshops on August 23rd, for youth 13-18 years where they create art and receive resources on mental health.

Claremont Pollinator Garden Planting – Aug 25th – 1.30pm

Would you like to help plant a native garden and learn about the pollinators that might use it?
Participants will take part in planting a pollinator garden at Claremont Nature Centre in Pickering. Meet at the front entrance of the centre.
Registration is required for this event.
What to wear: Long pants, closed-toed shoes, tall socks, hat and sunscreen.
What to bring: Rain protection, bug spray, reusable water bottle and snacks. Gardening gloves and water refill will be available on site.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no washroom available on site.
Cancellation policy: The event will run rain or shine, but will be cancelled if there is a greater than 70% chance of thunderstorms or other hazardous weather. Registrants will be emailed by 8:00 a.m. on the morning of the event if there is a cancellation.

Tamil Fest 2022 – Aug 27th – 28th

Tamil Fest 2022 is the largest Tamil Street Festival outside of the Indian subcontinent. Tamil Fest showcases the rich cultural heritage, arts, music, cuisine, history and pride of Tamil Culture to Canada’s diverse communities.
Over the years, Tamil Fest has seen over 250,000 attendees marking it as the most significant event in east Toronto’s history. Tamil Fest will be back in person this year and will build on our previous success with two days filled with authentic cuisine and dazzling entertainment featuring local and international talents.

Aurora Ribfest – Machell Park – Aug 26th-28th
