Hope & Healing Art Installation – Aug 6th – Black Creek Pioneer Village

Hope and Healing is a temporary installation exhibit by Métis Encaustic Sculptor, Tracey-Mae Chambers. The installation reflects the unrest of the current global and national climate. From the COVID-19 pandemic and battling racial discrimination to the forgotten Indigenous children in the discovery of numerous mass graves across Canada.
Tracey-Mae Chambers asks the tough question of where we go from here, individually, and collectively, and how do we stay hopeful?
These temporary installations across Canada are made using crochet, knit and woven red yarns. The ongoing body of work is used to illustrate connections between Indigenous, Inuit, and Métis peoples with Canadians, while also addressing the decolonization of public spaces.
Once dismantled, the work is returned to the artist and will be reworked and repurposed at another site somewhere else in the country. The stories gathered from each participating venue will culminate in a book and travelling exhibition.
The installation with Tracey-Mae Chambers will take place Saturday, August 6, at Black Creek Pioneer Village. The public program of the installation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
