Party in the Square – Downtown Markham – Dec 31st – 10pm

Downtown Markham is inviting you to Party in the Square on New Year’s Eve with live music and fireworks as we ring in 2023!
We will host our annual New Year’s party on December 31st in Origin Square – at 169 Enterprise Blvd. From 10 p.m. to after midnight. You can expect to groove to our magical DJ, a live musical performance by Bernadette Connors Band and Guest VIP host John Webster, who will host our official countdown which will be followed by a spectacular fireworks show.
There are endless options if you don’t feel like cooking and want to treat your family or friends to some fine dining in DTM before taking in live music, capped off with an exceptional fireworks show.
Our party will kick off at 10 p.m. with an energetic DJ playing everything you can expect to get the party started, live music from the Bernadette Connors band beginning at 10:30 p.m. Get ready for her dynamic vocal range to blow your mind!
Markham’s Town Crier John Webster will then lead the crown with a countdown to midnight, followed by an unforgettable fireworks show lighting up the sky above the Square.
Keep in mind there is no admission to join in on the festivities BUT be sure to dress appropriately for the weather!!

Stouffville New Years Celebration – Memorial Park – Dec 31st – 6.30 pm

Bring the whole family to Memorial Park on New Year’s Eve to close out the year with a bang! Join your neighbours on December 31 as we ring in the New Year with an exciting evening of exceptional entertainment that will light up the main stage and free hot beverages (while supplies last) that will keep you warm while you watch our largest fireworks display of the year! Parking is available in nearby parking lots at the Leisure Centre and Across from Latcham Hall. The event is dependent on good weather conditions. In the event Mother Nature does not cooperate, the event may be cancelled or postponed. Fireworks begin at 8 p.m.

Kwanzaa Celebration 2022 – Milliken Mills Community Centre – Dec 30th – 5pm

York Region Alliance of African Canadian Communities (YRAACC) in partnership with The Regional Municipality of York Region and The City of Markham invites you to our Kwanzaa Celebration 2022.
Kwanzaa is an annual cultural celebration of the African Diaspora from December 26 – January 1.

Winter Break at the Ontario Science Centre – until Jan 8th

Make your Winter Break wonderful! Don’t miss your chance to see the beloved collection of Emett’s Dream Machines, on display from now until January 15.
These fantastical kinetic sculptures were created by Rowland Emett, the eccentric inventor whose work was featured in the 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Each year, we display these wondrous, whimsical machines during the winter holidays.
You can be an inventor too! Visit Emett’s Whimsical Workshop, running from December 26 until January 8, for invention inspiration and hands-on science fun!

First Night – Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts – Dec 31st – 6pm-9pm

Come together for a family-friendly New Year’s countdown in downtown Richmond Hill!
Show off your dance moves at our outdoor dance party in the Glow Lounge; try a game of human foosball or hockey in the outdoor arena in the Game Zone; take part in “Rockin’ Around the Clock” themed activities and contests; enjoy live entertainment and delicious treats from our food vendors. All this excitement and more will help you celebrate the last day of 2022!
The best part about First Night… the early countdown starting at 8:45 p.m.! This is perfect for little ones that can’t quite make it to midnight.
All ages are welcome. Multi-Platinum, Juno nominated Canadian pop singer-songwriter Elijah Woods takes to the stage at 7:30 p.m. (reservations required). That’s not all – Stay tuned for your chance to meet Elijah Woods! Select ticket holders will be notified for a ‘meet and greet’ prior to the show. Richmond Green Skate Trail

Glide through the trees at our 250-metre looped skate trail with lights for evening skating and ample parking. The skate trail is located at 1300 Elgin Mills Road East right next to Tom Graham Arena. Admission is free and registration is not required.
Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily (weather permitting). For skate trail conditions, call our hotline at 905-771-5490.
What you need to know before coming to the skate trail
- Bring your own skates. Rentals and skate sharpening services are not available
- All persons on the ice must have skates on
- Skate guards are recommended while off the ice
- Children 9 years of age and under must be accompanied on the ice by a guardian 14 years+
- CSA-approved helmets are mandatory for children 5 and under and strongly recommended for everyone else
- All skaters must skate in the same direction
- Hockey/shinny is not permitted
- Do not speed or figure skate, backward skate, participate in horseplay or carry children while on the ice
- Skating aids and wheelchairs are permitted on the ice. Persons accompanying users must have skates on
- The skate trail is unsupervised
- Ice resurfacing will take place periodically throughout the day. You will be asked to clear the ice while the Zamboni is out there

Downtown Toronto New Years Eve Celebration Online & In-Person – Toronto’s Inner Harbour – Dec 31st

Ring in the new year with high-altitude fireworks along downtown Toronto’s waterfront. The fireworks represent hope for the coming year and form part of the Stronger TOgether program, which honours the resiliency of Torontonians during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Watch the fireworks from anywhere with views of downtown Toronto’s inner harbour or enjoy the show set to music online via the CultureTO YouTube channel – which opens in a new window.
Share your night on social media using #NewYearsEveTO.
There will be no New Year’s Eve celebrations at Nathan Phillips Square, although holiday lighting displays and public skating will remain available until 10 p.m.
