Hello Markham and welcome to August! Summer is going by fast and so we have a long list of events for you to go to in and around Markham while the weather is fine! Movies, music, markets, flowers, festivals and folk fests fill the list this week! Hope you find something that interests you. Movies in the Park - Memorial Park - Stouffville - 8.30pm

This summer, the Town will once again be holding Movies in the Park! Join us every third and fourth Friday in July and August for family-favorite films under the stars! Each movie will begin at sundown, around 8:30 p.m., and finish around 11:00 p.m. Food vendors will be on-site, selling a variety of snacks for you to indulge in as you enjoy a magical cinematic experience.
This is a free event that is open to everyone to attend. Please bring your lawn chairs and blankets!
No pre-registration required.

Rouge River Brewing Company Events

Foot Loose Friday DJ Dance Party - July 28th - 9pm

Celebrate the weekend with us as we dance to top hits from 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with our special guest DJ KC Decker. Portion of ticket sales will be donated to Pflag Canada York Region.

Markville Run Crew - July 29th -12pm

Last Saturday of the month, meet at Rouge at 12 and run with a local running group – hosted by Markville Run Crew. Ticket acts as a reservation to run and includes a pint of your choice post-run in the taproom.

Sips & Songs - Eight on Main - July 30th - 12pm

This is a community event, supporting local businesses, talent and creative vendors selling their products. In our backspace, Rouge River Brewery will be selling their delicious beer blends while talent from The School of Rock along with other local female musicians perform for you! Bring your lawn chair and get comfortable! These events are generously supported by local businesses. This is an all ages and dog-friendly event series.

Cineplex Family Favourites - Wonder Park Cineplex Downtown Markham - July 29th - 11am

June, an optimistic, imaginative girl, discovers an incredible amusement park called Wonderland hidden in the woods. The park is full of fantastical rides and talking, funny animals – only the park is in disarray. June soon discovers the park came from her imagination and she’s the only one who can fix it, so she bands together with the animals to save this magical place and bring back the wonder in Wonderland

Music on Main - Main Street Markham - July 28th - 6pm

Each week unique performers will set up along Main Street Markham between 6:00pm – 9:00pm.
Walk the street and listen for the artists to discover where they are playing.
Enjoy the evening and explore Main Street Markham or sit on a patio and indulge in the entertainment.

Main Street Farmers Market - Every Saturday until Oct 7th

We’ve featured the Farmers Market before but we thought that a reminder might be due!

Join us every Saturday, for an amazing selection of locally-sourced, fresh, and handcrafted quality goods. With 30 weekly vendors, including farmers, local honey producers, artisans, skin and haircare experts, baked goods connoisseurs, and much more, there’s something for everyone at the Main Street Markham Farmers’ Market.

Markham Dog Alliance presents: Summer Market & Social Series - SuperHero's/Hero's - Eight on Main - July 29th - 11am-4pm

Our next themed Summer Market & Socials is: SUPERHERO/HERO’S! (Spiderman, Batman, Black Panther, Wonder Woman etc). This event will be in support of @ontariospca & @ospcayorkregion with a portion of vendor sales and ticket sales going to them!

Time: 11am-4pm

Tickets: $10, and can be bought at the door

Location: Eight on Main’s huge patio facing Highway 7 and backs onto a busy plaza with Starbucks!

Traffic: Starbucks will be there offering pup cups for free! Freshi will be giving out samples!

Photobooth: Themed to the event will be BLUE vs RED, so dogs can take photos

DJ: Will be playing themed music on the balcony. Get ready to pawty!

Markham -York Region Greek Festival - Warden Ave Markham

For over 30 years, the Church of Sts. Panteleimon, Anna and Paraskevi and the Greek Community of York Region have brought a taste of village life to Canada through their authentic Greek Summer Festival, and we are back by popular demand! Thousands of people each year come to the festival to try traditionally made Greek cuisine, learn Greek dances or simply enjoy the night life. Scarborough Folk Fest - Thompson Memorial Park

Parampara Canada will be hosting the SCARBOROUGH FOLK FEST at Thomson Memorial Park in Scarborough.

The euphony of folk music from all different parts of the globe unites in the city celebrated for its multiculturalism – Scarborough. Scarborough Folk Fest is a celebration of the sheer musical magnificence that is folk music – in all its myriad forms and variations.
Scarborough Folk Fest has over 125+ local artists and 15+ artists from other parts of Canada and abroad.

Thursday Nights at the Bandstand - ABBA Revisited - Unionville
3rd August - 7.30pm

The popular free music series “Thursday Nights at the Bandstand” hits the stage on consecutive Thursday evenings throughout June through August. Performances each evening run from 7:30 to 9 p.m.at Unionville’s Millennium Bandstand at the corner of Main Street and Fred Varley Drive.

Organized by community-based Unionville Presents and funded by dedicated community spirited sponsors, the series attracts talented Canadian, International and Local performers to the outdoor Millennium Bandstand for all to enjoy free of charge.

From blues to jazz to funk to soul to vintage hits and classical guitar, award-winning musicians bring their unique sounds to life on the Millennium stage.
