Hello and welcome to this week’s list of What’s on in Markham – June 8th – 14th!

Ripple Foundation, a Canada-wide educational charity dedicated to creative literacy and empowering youth, is unveiling its second annual youth conference, ‘Express Inspire Connect,’ taking place on Sunday, June 11, from 12:00 PM to 4:15 PM EST.
The youth-organized, 100% donation powered, and volunteer-run virtual event aims to provide an engaging platform for students in grades eight to 12 to explore youth-led activism, personal growth, and the transformative power of education.
“We are excited to bring back the ‘Express Inspire Connect’ youth conference,” said Ivy Wong, Founder of Ripple Foundation. “This event embodies our commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders and change-makers. By providing a platform for young voices to be heard, we hope to inspire and empower them to create positive change in their communities.”
The conference will be held online and will inspire young individuals by addressing relevant issues impacting their peers. Through a thoughtfully curated program, participants will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights, connect with like-minded individuals, and discover their potential as agents of change.
“The conference seeks to play a vital role in youth-led activism, empowering young change-makers through insightful discussions and creative thinking around relevant social issues. Our aim is to inspire and equip the next generation of leaders to make a meaningful impact in their communities,” said Maddux Ma, Youth Events Team Lead at Ripple Foundation.
The conference will kick off with an engaging session on global issues in Youth Literature Workshop, highlighting the transformative power of literature. The centerpiece of the event will have three exceptional student speakers (Hanna Grover from Southridge School in British Columbia, Erica Li from St. Robert Catholic High School Toronto, and Isabella Wen from RE Mountain Secondary School Langley) tackle topics such as education as a fundamental right, cultivating healthy mindsets, and advocating for equal opportunities.
