Basketball Skills Training – March 9th – 5pm

Basketball skills training for boys and girls, ages 7-17. Training clinics are hosted by professional trainers in a group setting while paying great attention to detail to each individual’s needs and skill level. Through demonstrations and competitive games, participants will learn in theory and with live drills, about the fundamentals, as well as the modernized movements of the game, with the focus being on the 4 essentials of basketball; Shooting, Ball Handling, Footwork, and Passing Ability.
There are 2 locations in Markham. Markham Missionary Church in Wismer Commons, and King’s Court in Unionville. Our skills training clinics are on weeknights, after school.
In addition to our nightly skills training program, we also provide summer basketball camps, Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm, all summer.

Willowgrove Maple Syrup Tours – Willowgrove Farm – March 11th – 18th

Come join the springtime fun in one of our small group Maple Syrup Tours at Willowgrove Farm!
Learn about the history of syrup production, try your hand at tapping a Maple tree, watch an educational puppet show, and sample some delicious Willowgrove maple syrup in the sugar shack – all on a 100-acre farm.
This RAIN/SNOW OR SHINE event is located in Stouffville.

SpringFest TO – Markham Fairgrounds – March 11th – 19th

SpringFest offers Greater Toronto families an indoor fun park with the latest in children’s entertainment, games, and activities. We are thrilled to be back for our 18th year of quality family entertainment at the Markham Fairgrounds.

Enrichment Writing & Public Speaking – Power of Words Academy – Tuesdays – 6pm

At Power of Words Academy developing strong communication skills is essential to effective leadership. Our after-school program prepares children with the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to master writing and public speaking. Our school year programs, summer camps, and courses are offered online (using the Zoom platform and Google Classroom) and in-person.
2022/2023 Power of Words Enrichment Writing and Public Speaking School Year Program is for children in grades 2 to 8. The program runs the school year from September to June with classes held once a week for 90 minutes.
The program comprises three units:
Unit 1 – Reading Comprehension and Summarizing Unit (where students will learn how to examine texts and extract the main ideas and key details)
Unit 2 – Writing Unit (where students learn the structure of writing four types of essays, including the expository, persuasive, comparative, and contrast and research essays)
Unit 3 – Public Speaking and Debate Unit (where students learn how to write and deliver a speech, as well as develop debate skills). In addition, 20 minutes of each class during the school year is dedicated to the building blocks of writing (including vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, etc). During this segment, students will be given two mini-lessons and work out of the Language Power Now workbooks.

March Break on the Move! – Markham Museum – March 13th – 17th

Join us Monday March 13 to Friday March 17 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM for drop-in, exhibition-based STEM activities for the whole family! No additional cost to general admission. The last entry is at 3 PM, as it takes the average visitor 1-2 hours to enjoy every aspect of our March Break experience.

March Break at Earthbound Kids – March 13th – 17th

Our March Break camps will take place Friday March 10 and Monday March 13-17. Campers will enjoy the warmer weather and get a start on planting in our organic farm garden! Earthbound Kids offers both Saddle Club and Camp Treetop programs over the spring break.
Saddle Club Camp
All riding levels are welcome – Beginner to Advanced! Ages 6-12. Camp includes a 45-minute riding lesson with our head instructor and Show Team coach, Jessica Glassford.

When school is off, fun is on at the Y! The YMCA has March Break programs for children ages 4–12 at over 100 locations across the Greater Toronto Area. Varley Art Gallery presents: Lunch & Learn with Winnie Truong Online Presentation – – March 15th – 12.30pm

Toronto-based artist Winne Truong sheds light on the Varley Art Gallery’s current exhibition 𝙁𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨, which features sketches by F. H. Varley from the gallery’s permanent collection, and contemporary works by the artist. Winnie will reflect on some parallels between her work and those in the collection, touching on the labour of drawing, and the creation of botanical forms from both observation and imagination. She will also examine the process of creating 𝘔𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘸 𝘐𝘐, a large scale cut-paper wall installation and 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦, a recent stop motion animation.
