Vong burst onto the comedy scene in 2010 with his American television debut on MTV Logo Network’s One Night Stand Up, filmed in San Francisco, California at the historic Great American Music Hall. At the start of 2020, Vong filmed his first Canadian-produced stand-up comedy concert film live at CBC Glenn Gould Studio in front of back-to-back sold-out audiences. The concert film and accompanying soundtrack are currently in post-production and set for release in 2022. Vong is the creator of the hugely successful RICE Asian Comedy Showcase, garnering outstanding reviews from major media outlets including CBC Comedy, NOW Magazine and Mooney on Theatre.

In the Huddle – Lessons from Female Leaders in Sport – Oct 27th – Pan Am Centre – 6.30pm

This is a unique opportunity offered to female student-athletes in high school to learn from stories told by accomplished women in their various fields. Our dynamic guest speakers – who are leaders and key contributors within their community – will engage the audience with their story and share advice from their sport experience. Our talks always have an interactive component and we invite athletes to ask questions at the end. Past presentation topics have included diversity and inclusion in sport, mental health, dealing with injury, defining your journey, habits for success, and much more.
Students will have an opportunity to network with guest speakers during the event.
Parents, guardians and community members are welcome to attend the event, but are asked to sit in a separate section. Front seats will be reserved for female, high school student-athletes.
Check-in is at 6:30 pm.

Annual Halloween in the Village – Whitchurch-Stouffville – Oct 29th – 11am-4pm

Ghosts and goblins will soon be taking over the Community Safety Village of York Region in an effort to seek out tricks or treats. Children and their parents are encouraged to attend in costume. Members of York Regional Police will be present to pass along Halloween safety tips to trick-or-treaters of all ages.

Newmarket Haunted Halloween Trail – Dave Kerwin Trail – Oct 27th-29th – 6.30-9.30pm
For three evenings this October, take a walk through Newmarket’s second annual Haunted Halloween Trail. A portion of the Dave Kerwin Trail (approximately 1km) will be transformed with scary decorations, lighting, sound effects and actors in costume. Recommended for ages 10+.

Guildwood Pumpkin Parade – Elizabeth Simcoe Park – Nov 1st – 6-8pm

Looking for some fun and eco-friendly way to dispose of your Halloween Jack-o-lanterns after Halloween? Join your fellow community members and friends at the Elizabeth Simcoe Park on November 1, 2022 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm for the Guildwood Pumpkin Parade where you can display your pumpkin and light them up for all to enjoy.
It may be a chilly night so stop by the beverage table for a yummy hot chocolate to keep you toasty warm!
At the end of the evening, the pumpkins will be disposed of in the city-provided eco-friendly compost bin.
