During COVID-19, the hospice has maintained a 93% occupancy rate. There are no costs to hospice residents and families and by supporting the Tee Off for Hospice 2021, you are ensuring that they can continue to offer exceptional hospice palliative care services to the York Region community. Turtle Tally Online Webinar – Aug 24th – 6.30pm

Ontario’s native turtle species face a variety of conservation challenges, especially in urban areas. While ecologists are doing their best to help, there is still much to learn about this cryptic species, and community scientists are at the forefront of these efforts. Join Tisha from the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority as she discusses the threats to Ontario’s turtles, the creative strategies conservationists are using to support our turtles, and what you can do in your own communities as community scientists to help our at-risk turtle friends! Markham Cycles is teaming up with Markham Public Library to give this great virtual workshop.

Pioneer Day – Scugog Shores Museum – August 22nd – 11am -4pm

If you like going on day trips try Scugog Historical Museum Village! This event is their annual fundraiser and is fun and family-friendly. It’s perfect for anyone who likes to learn new things, explore, and celebrate history. Visitors will be treated to heritage demonstrations such as blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, and the operation of a printing press. Guests may also explore the museum’s twelve historic buildings while checking out local artisans around the property. The young and young-at-heart can experience crafts, games, and discovery stations throughout the village. Tickets will be available at the event as capacity allows, general admission applies.
